If you’ve noticed a lack of presence in the blog-o-sphere it’s because I’ve been busy planning my wedding. My theme has drove me into the realm of the DIY Bride. You’ve probably seen the websites about handmade wedding favors for guests with everything from making soy candles in vintage tea cups to making your own mini mason jar of moonshine with a cute little label with the Bride and groom’s names! (A cute little way to get arrested on your wedding day because most people don’t know how to properly distill liquor…so you could accidentally murder all your guests or make them super sick…I’ve side-tracked myself…)
I’ve noticed there is one thing that all these DIY idea places never tell you. YOU WILL DO IT YOURSELF! I know that’s supposed to be implied with the DIY, but try DIYing enough tiny teacup candles and brewing enough moonshine for every guest. It’s overwhelming!
Plus…DO IT YOURSELF takes time. I’ve been making kind of low budget wedding favors for my guests (No it’s not candles or moonshine because I don’t have the money for 125 tiny vintage tea cups and I’ve heard the story about my uncle making moonshine in the bathtub more than enough to know it is not something I am capable of.) Even with these easy to assemble little favors it’s still taken me the better part of a month to finish the project – and to date – I’m still not completely finished! Honestly, I’m surprised I’ve had time between getting unsolicited marriage advice from well-meaning people, freaking out, drinking wine, getting unsolicited wedding etiquette advice from well-meaning people, freaking out, drinking wine, getting advice on addressing invitations, freaking out, drinking wine, addressing invitations, freaking out, drinking wine, getting my dress altered, freaking out, drinking wine, shopping for wedding rings, freaking out, drinking wine, finding a new flower girl, freaking out, and…I need a glass of wine.
